We all have fond memories of great barbecues. It is hard to say no when one of our friends or a family member invites us to a barbecue. The thought of the food on the grill with the smoky aroma all around is admittedly hard to resist. The barbecue has been a traditional get together meal for decades and it will be here for many more.

There are many different methods for cooking a great barbecue meal. Some prefer to use a dry rub seasoning on the meat while grilling, others like to marinate the meat for a day or so before cooking it, some people enjoy adding wood chips to the grill for added smoke flavor, and some just like their food smothered in lots of barbecue sauce.

Traditional barbecue sauce is a blend of tomato sauce and vinegar. You can use ketchup in place of those two items. If you like, cider can be used either in place of or in addition to the vinegar. Then, the creativity really kicks in, flavors and spices are added to give each sauce its own distinctive taste.

For sweet barbecue sauces, brown sugar or honey are usually added. You can also use fruit or jelly to sweeten a sauce. To make it spicy, you can add any type of pepper or hot sauce that you like, cayenne will give it a milder flavor while you can really spice it up with something like Habanero sauce. Any combination of herbs and seasoning can be used in your barbecue sauce, garlic and onion powder are very common but for added flavor you can also use something like fresh cilantro. Another ingredient that is often put into a good barbecue sauce is smoke flavoring. This can be used in place of wood chips in the grill. Mustard is also used in the making of several barbecue recipes.

Marinades are also very popular. Try out several different methods with this as well. A good marinade can either be made by adding water to one of your barbecue sauce masterpieces or creating something entirely new. Try a soy sauce, brown sugar and sesame for something different. Don’t be afraid to experiment and try new things. Then, you just soak your meat in it overnight in the refrigerator to let it really soak in the flavors.

The key to making the perfect barbecue sauce is to make it the way you would like it to taste. Add any ingredients you like, switch them up and use a lot of variety. Try new things especially if you have a few favorite herbs or flavor preferences.

1/3 cup. Heinz 57 Steak Sauce
2 tbsp. Texes Pete Hot Sauce

Remove from heat and apply it to pre grilled chicken in a 2 inch baking pan then bake at 300 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes before serving. Clean Propane and Natural Gas Grills

Deciding Between Clean Propane and Natural Gas Grilling

Gas grills are much easier to use than charcoal grills. Cleaning up the charcoal mess after you use a bbq grill is a very messy job. Gas grills are favored because there is no mess to deal with. Your choices in gas grills consist of propane tank grills and higher end natural gas grills. Switching from charcoal to gas grilling can make all of your barbecues a much more clean and enjoyable event. Generally a propane grill will be portable while a natural gas grill is often built in.

Propane gas Grills

Every grilling enthusiast is aware of the portable propane tanks that you can take along to outdoor BBQs anywhere. These are refillable and you can find a place to fill your tank in almost every neighborhood. Some stores require you to trade your tank in for a new one. They are inexpensive and an excellent choice for people who like to grill on the go. If you love camping, outdoor gatherings and going to events, this is the best choice for you. They are also perfect for home use because portable grills can be stowed away during the rainy season for safe keeping. You sinply put your propane grill away without the mess of cleaning up the charcoal beforehand.

Natural Gas Grills

A natural gas grill is an excellent option if your home is already run on natural gas. It is the cleanest way to go when barbecuing. It is really not worth it to install natural gas simply to run your grill unless you are a serious griller. If your home is heated with gas then you are set to barbecue in high style. You will need to have a gas line installed to go to your grill if there is not one already available.

One of the major benefits of using a natural gas grill is that you don’t need to go fill your tank every other time you use it. Your gas grill is ready for use when ever you decide to use it. It is so much more convenient, if you truly are a barbecue lover, you may just be inclined to build an entire outdoor kitchen around your natural gas grill. Barbecue parties come off perfectly with this type of grill as well. There is no prepping the grill and worrying about if you have everythng you need to do your grilling. Most built in natural gas grills are made of high quality stainless steel so there is no need to worry about it in any season of the year. It is essentially an all weather grill.

No matter if you are a traveling griller or you enjoy having fabulous home grilling parties, there is a perfect gas grill for you. Just keep in mind that a propane grill needs to be stored in the winter and a natural gas grill needs to have a safe connection point outside when making your decision.

25 Top Gas Grills Compared

Too often, consumers seeking a high end stainless steel gas grill are won by a manufacturer’s reputation, the look of the grill or to other factors such as recommendations from friends or family. Now, this is a fairly large investment, as appliances go, and consult an expert in the field could help in making an informed decision. A reliable gas grill specialist can help you evaluate the different characteristics found in these high-end grills and quid you the best choice for the features you prefer.

The simplest way to compare the manufacturers objectively, of course, is with a graph! Our chart compares Fire Magic, Alfresco, Kenmore Elite, Viking, DCS, Dacor, Lynx, Vintage, Weber Summit Gold D, Wolf, Altima, Turbo, ProFire, Phoenix, Tec, Solaire Infrared, Vieluxe, Lazy Man, Jenn Air, Holland , FrontGate, Capitol, Crown Verity, Ducan and Dynasty.

Some of the features in the table are:

* BTU Output: How many burners, and how many BTUs are standard?
You need to do some calculations to determine the real heat will receive their food. Ideally, you want to have over 95 BTU’s per square inch of cooking surface. How do you know? Take your total BTU’s and divide it by first cooking surface. So …. if your cooking surface is 660 square inches and the total BTU’s are BTU’s 104,000, then 104,000 divided by 660 square inches = 157 BTU’s per square inch. That would be a winner!

* Temperature range: This is a very important feature, if you like to do a variety of cuisine. You will be able to do everything from searing steaks to grill pizza with a
wide range of temperatures.

* Materials Burner can be cast stainless steel plate stainless steel, cast iron, infra-red and even cast brass, which is used in commercial settings. Dual burners allow for indirect cooking and better heat control. Cast brass or cast stainless burners are your best bet. They will last longer and are more durable. The fat tends to burn through sheet metal easily.

* Infra-red burners are an option for those seeking a well seared steak. Thinking of an infra-red cooking system? Temperatures in a system of infra-red cooking can reach up to 1600 degrees in some bars. Infra-red cooking allows for quick, high temperatures, which reduces cooking time and helps seal in juices – perfect for searing a steak. If food or blackened steaks are your taste preference – infra-red cooking is the way to go. If you plan on conventional cooking – go with a hybrid that offers infra-red burners and pattern. Tip – make sure you can convert infra-red burners back to standard for large parties.

* Rotisserie backburners are a popular option. Used to cook large pieces of meat evenly, Rotisserie use a much less heat than normal grilling. BTU ranges generally range in 13-15000 class but the best offer grills 18-28000 BTUs. Rotisserie cooked with meat are usually juice, self-basted and slow roasted. Tip – look for a model with a drip tray to make cleaning easier. Be sure to compare Rotisserie available space, especially if you want to roast a turkey or two.

* A Triple Gourmet Grill lets you use gas, infra-red and charcoal for cooking! How versatile can you get!

* A smoker box Adjustable is ideal for those who appreciate the added taste of Hickory, mesquite and other woods for its meat. It makes smoking easy. Adjustable vents allow you to control the amount of smoke flavor to provide just the right taste.

Cooking temperatures for infrared grills tend to be somewhat hotter than other gas grills which makes them perfect for grilling steaks and seafoods. Converting A Grill Into A Smoker And Using It To Work For You

If you have a gas grill that is hinge covered and comes with a temperature gauge and a multi-rack assembly with rocks, that’s a nice grill that you have there! All you need now is a rotisserie set up and you will be making magic in your own back yard. You want to begin by soaking some hickory wood chips for the day before you barbecue that way the wood chips are soft so they don’t just burn up. You need the steam and smoke the wood chips for the best flavor. To turn your grill in to a smoker by setting the grill low, you’ll slow roast your ribs while you smoke your ribs. By utilizing the different levels of racks in your barbecue grill you can do multiple meats such as chicken, fish, wild game, ribs, roast, and even cheese anything you want because just about every thing tastes good smoked. Hickory and maple wood chips work best for me. You want to cure the item before the smoking treatment starts. Do this by making a brine. You can accent your flavor by adding any liquid smoke flavor of your choice to the brine as well. Do this a day before you use your newly made grill smoker. You won’t even have to buy a smoker because it was sitting in your back yard all of these years. Who knew, you have done a lot with your grill. You can have your neighbors walk by talking about the aromatic flavor you are sending. Now you have converted your very own bbq grill into a smoker with accessories now. Your friends will be asking “when are we coming over for a ribs bbq grilled dinner?”

How To Cook Corn On The BBQ

How To Cook Corn On The BBQ

This method of barabecuing is a common question with multiple answers. You can use this information for in doors or back yard cooking as well as camping. The corn is self contained and very portable making this a trick you can do anywhere. The only problem I have with the many choices for making BBQ corn on the cob is finding the on thats right for me because there are so many to choose from. but all in all sweet corn is by far my favorite. When the season is in you can find the largest and sweetest, I personaly like to rub butter with a sprinkle of salt and pepper, and double wrapp the corn with foil. Since corn is so versital, you can take it with you camping in the husk and when your ready to use it, just remove the husk and apply margarine from a squeeze bottle applicator, salt and pepper, and your foil. Place it on the gill at about 300 degrees. For the ones that like to rough it in the wilderness, place the wraped corn to the side of a fire pit on the rocks that suround the pit, because the heat from the fire and the heated rock will cook the corn nicely.
